Provide university course descriptions as necessary. Basic Requirement for 0414 Entomology Series:
Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Hydrologist. A. I have successfully completed a full four year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in entomology; or a related discipline of the biological or physical sciences that included at least 16 semester hours in entomology. --OR-- B. I have a combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours of course work in entomology, or a combination of biological courses, of which at least 16 semester hours were in entomology, plus appropriate experience or additional education sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform work in the occupation of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. GS-11:
One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9). Specialized experience at this level is defined as:
Conducting the full cycle of scientific research with defined objectives, limited in scope to investigating specific phenomena or problems, or are segments of related investigations. Research at this level requires fairly conventional techniques and involves applying existing theory or methods to areas previously investigated, but under different conditions, or involves adapting previous studies in light of changes in theory or improved techniques and instrumentation and result in contributions that add to scientific and professional knowledge or support developing new or improved methods and techniques. This research must have been in one or more of the following areas:
Understanding and quantifying invasive insect species biology, ecology, interactions and impacts, Managing invasive species and restoring ecosystem functions, basic research on the biology and ecology of non-native (insect) species, understanding and quantifying invasive species biology, ecology, interactions and impacts on host species and natural enemies, emerald ash borer (EAB) biological control; Disseminating research findings at conferences or scientific meetings and contributing to results published in peer-reviewed journals; and Collaborating and building partnerships with researchers. --OR-- Conferred Master's Degree directly related to the work of this position which is entomology. Graduate courses and/or research in forest entomology, integrated pest management with an emphasis on biological and microbial control, invasion ecology, and in the vegetation dynamics of forests disturbed by non-native invasive insect species. One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11). Specialized experience at this level is defined as:
Conducting the full cycle of scientific research (including identifying research topics, defining study objectives, organizing and conducting the research, interpreting the results, and presenting the findings in the form of reports, demonstrations, manuscripts, and other appropriate technology transfer activities) from in one or more of the following areas:
silviculture, quantitative forest ecology, wildfire and/or prescribed fire management, forest restoration, forest model development and simulation, dendrochronology, historical forest reconstruction, or forest growth and yield; Developing management tools for destructive non-native (insect) species and integrated pest management plans. Forming, leading, and participating in research teams, regional, and/or national importance; Disseminating research findings at conferences or scientific meetings and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals. --OR-- Conferred Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a research area elated to the work of this position which is entomology. Qualifying graduate education for the GS-11 level of this position includes graduate courses and/or research in forest entomology, integrated pest management with an emphasis on biological and microbial control, invasion ecology, and in the vegetation dynamics of forests disturbed by non-native invasive insect species. If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
