Maintenance Tech
General Purpose of Job:
Provides maintenance and improvements to interior/exterior facilities and grounds.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
Performs all aspects of maintenance & installation for both interior and exterior plant scapes using hand and power tools.
Performs landscaping maintenance to lawns, such as mowing, seeding or sodding, shrub & tree planting or trimming. Operates power equipment and hand tools manufactured for this type of work.
Cleans/maintains building & parking deck entrances daily including, but not limited to: sweeping, trash removal and power washing using hand tools and power equipment. Power equipment to include High Pressure (2,500 plus) gas or electric powered pressure washers.
Operates riding street sweepers and vacuums to maintain parking decks and surface parking lots. Conducts temporary repairs to surfaces using concrete mixes or asphalt cold patch.
Adjusts, repairs, and maintains lawn irrigation systems, as assigned.
Performs snow & ice removal by operating plow trucks/salt spreaders, tractor/salt spreaders, skid loader, snow blower and utilizes all hand-operated snow/de-icing tools/equipment.
Maintains waste compactor disposal area daily cleaning, sweeping & power washing.
Performs lawn and plant fertilization application under supervision of State of Michigan certified applicator license (works toward becoming certified).
Moves, installs, and maintains parking lot signs and traffic barricades.
Must be part of On-Call Snow Team and often works overtime hours during winter months.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
License / Certification:
Valid Driver's License
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year previous landscaping and grounds maintenance experience.
Skills & Abilities:
Self-motivated and ability to work without direct supervision.
Demonstrates knowledge of lawn care, trees, shrubs, and gardens.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Preferred:
Applicator license
Work Environment:
Outside in all weather conditions. Subjected to hazards of power equipment and excessive noise.
