The Value Add Group (VAG) is a commercial metal heat treating company providing services primarily to the automotive and truck industry through the forging, cold forming, and foundry suppliers. VAG provides a variety of heat treat, phosphate coating, shot blast and saw cutting/shearing services. Each facility has the following departments: Production, Quality, and Maintenance.

Gerdau VAG is currently seeking an Outside Sales Service Representativefor its Lansing, MI facility.

Overview and Scope:
Manages and plans all sales and marketing activity and provides technical expertise within assigned territory of Gerdau Special Steel North America (GSN) Value Added Group (VAG) metal treating services by direct and indirect customer contact, in order to achieve maximum plant utilization, as well as set forecasts on price, volume, and product mix so that profitability goals of GSN VAG are met.

Manage and perform all sales and marketing functions in assigned territory in order to produce optimum profitability and product mix.
Build relationships with top management, plant, metallurgical, and purchasing personnel at key accounts to perpetuate confidence and trust in GSN.
Facilitate the quoting of prices with specific Plant Managers, make sales forecasts and maintain sales budgets in accordance with existing guidelines.
Recommend policies, procedures and programs to improve quality, service, product mix, market share, and improved profitability.
Coordinate with the GSN VAG President and Sales Manager of VAG/SBQ Products on customer visits, new product development, competitive pricing, strategies, and industry trends.
Manage claim process and procedure: issue claim numbers, coordinate with plant metallurgical personnel to resolve complaints promptly, negotiate settlement of dollars involved in major claims.
Coordinate with plant metallurgical personnel and Group management personnel on customer requirements and specifications.
Coordinate with the Group Controller and accounting the prompt payment of invoices per our agreed to terms.
Recommend and facilitate pricing agreements with our customers.
Coordinate and communicate territory goals/objectives with inside sales group, mentoring and being actively involved.
Secure marketing and sales information relating to our competition and customers.

Bachelor's Degree Required
3+ years of experience in related work history with significantly increased outside sales volume responsibility
3 + years sales experience in heat treat, steel or industrial/manufacturing industry strongly preferred
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (approximately 20%-30% or more overnight)
Proficient with MS Office including intermediate skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint required
Very well organized and have excellent time management skills
Must be self-motivated and self-directed

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
