This position is responsible for supporting MDOT's traffic monitoring program through the data collection of traffic or travel information as required by the Federal Highway Administration This position entails the development of an annual schedule for conducting machine counts, surveying the motoring public to obtain travel characteristic information, setting of traffic counting equipment and retrieving data from this equipment, processing and validating the data prior to submitting to the central office, and providing reports of the results when necessary.
The employee often works alone and with minimal supervision.
While conducting the field work, the employee will develop the skills needed to use independent judgement to adjust their schedule or make modifications to the study to accommodate factors specific to the site and study, construction, weather, and other factors.
The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (6) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E8) level.
Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
