Position
Summary:
As assigned, assist ITD Analysts and Supervision in providing technical assistance related to desktop and mobile computers to BWL staff via phone, remote access and in person.
Technical assistance consists of:
1) Answering technical support questions, 2) Investigating and resolving problems with computer hardware, software, connectivity, and desktop PC peripherals such as printers, and 3) Providing new or relocated desktop equipment, including preparing, configuring, imaging, testing, delivering and installing the desktop equipment using ITD standard Procedures, images, software, hardware and tools.
Keeps detailed standardized records of work performed.
Technical assistance is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Provides back-up for print shop.
Essential Functions:
Answering Technical Support Questions - Provides technical support and helps prepare support procedures and Q&A guidelines for ITD analyst review.
Investigating and Resolving Problems - Provides testing, cleaning, and replacement of failing PC components.
Performs software error detection and correction and researches, evaluates and recommends tools for ITD analyst review.
Helps develop modifications to existing procedures and prepares/recommends new procedures for ITD Analyst review.
Provides New or Relocated Desktop Equipment - Prepares, configures, and images desktop equipment.
Delivers and installs desktop equipment.
Provides feedback to ITD Analyst on Procedures for the testing and evaluation of proposed and new equipment.
Provides back-up for the print shop.
Performs other departmental tasks as assigned.
Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment.
Attends training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA.
Job Specifications:
High-school Diploma or equivalent.
Three years experience as a PC Technician.
Associates Degree in PC Technician or equivalent.
Ability to communicate understandably and legibly via phone and in writing, and multi-task.
Must maintain confidentiality, punctuality, and attendance.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Ability to communicate verbally via phone and in written form.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Normal office environment.
Will be required to travel to various work locations to deliver computer equipment.
